(11/23/2007) [phase:Finish] Battery Rhino SLA-4-12 from www.RageBattery.com $9.95 3 Hours of time to take apart and put back together. MUST recharge for 6 to 8 hours or longer for full charge. I recharged for 1 hour then did a quick test to make sure it worked, then finished the charging. (11/23/2007) [phase:Reassemble-Battery] Battery can be found from www.RageBattery.com. The battery is the SLA-4-12. It costs 9.95 + shipping. I used the plastic from the old battery with some new masking tape. Not sure why it was wrapped, but didn't want to take chances. Fit exactly the same. (note: the battery is a 4.5amp and the older one was only a 4.0amp) (11/23/2007) [phase:Reassemble-Case] A little harder putting the case back on without damaging. Remember that there are 2 microphone sections that attach near the neck when the front and back are reassembled. (11/23/2007) [phase:Reassemble-Mother board] When reassembling, I pulled off the yellow wire from the antena by accident. When looking at the mother board, above it about 2 inches you will see a bare wire screwed on to the section of the head base. The wire was reattached using the screw. Make sure that ALL CONNECTIONS ARE ATTACHED and that all wires are not near any gears or moving parts. DO NOT CONNECT POWER UNTIL AFTER ALL THE PARTS ARE PUT TOGETHER AND THEN CHARGE FOR ABOUT 6 to 8 Hours ATLEAST. (I Charged for about 1 hour then tested to see if it worked for a quick test, then I finished the charging). (11/3/2007) [phase:Disassemble and Removal] WARNING: Disconnect power after the first panel (Back smaller) is removed to avoid possible shorts. (11/3/2007) [phase:Disassemble and Removal-Mother board] Before touching mother board, make sure that you use a ground strap or discharge any static charge from your body to a close metal surface. Static will damage fragile components. Some wires are soldered directly to board, so it is not possible to fully seperate board. Disconnecting the lower group of wires makes it easier to move board up and over to side. DO NOT pull or hand board from wires, this could break off the wire. (11/3/2007) [phase:Disassemble and Removal-Remove Battery] Battery is behind the mother board and is tightly fitted. There are 2 metal pieces screwed in to protect from movement. Next we'll have to find a battery source for the roboscout. (11/3/2007) [phase:Disassemble and Removal-Remove case] The case has 2 smaller panels (1 front and 1 back) and 2 body casements (1 front and 1 back). Each has components attached with wiring that can only be detactched from the mother board. Wiring goes in many different directions. I used digital photos to store the wiring information and disassembly to be used when reassembling. Don't pull on wires. end |
